What do Sting, Imagine Dragons and Dolly Parton have in common? Well, they're all brand new songs currently being learnt by us, The Harmoneers. There maybe other connections to these three artists and if you find one, please let us know! The above artists complement Snow Patrol, Clean Bandit, Adele, Bastille, Fleetwood Mac and The Beach Boys to name a few to our repertoire. To see a full list, click here.
When we learn any new song, it's normally split between an arrangement that's been composed for choirs or we simply blast out a tune and start adding our own be-spoke harmonies on top all with the help of our very talented Musical Director Cate Bower who we must say has the patience of a saint. Learning 3-4 part harmonies is not easy, however the reward is worth the wait when all four sections of our choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) sing (what we're supposed to) and we sound, I guess, like a proper choir!
It's a great time for anyone thinking of joining a choir. There have been many programmes on TV including Gareth Malone and the Military Wives choir and every week there seems to be a choir on Britain's Got Talent with Ant & Dec. Just looking at those singing, you can tell that they're enjoying everything that being part of a choir brings. Feedback from our members is that they look forward to a 'Feelgood fix every Monday'. With busy lives, singing in a choir is certainly a great way to relax, have fun and meet new people.
So wanting to give it a go, contact us for more information or pop on down and start belting out some tunes with us, (it's FREE for the first time and then only £5 to cover costs), we'll love to see you and you'll be made most welcome.
